The Royal Mint Creates Nine Coins to Mark Prince George's Christening

His birth this summer captured the world's attention and now Prince George of Cambridge 's christening will be commemorated with a series of coins.

According to the Royal Mint, the nine coins will range in value from £5 to £50,000. Four of them will be made out of traditional silver, one of platinum, one copper-nickel, and the other three of gold.

Crossing a baby's palm with silver is a custom thought to confer good health and prosperity to newborns.

On Wednesday (October 23), the little prince will be baptized in front of close family and friends at the Chapel Royal at St. James's Palace.
